Safe Work Practices

Safe Work Practices (SWP) in oil and gas producing operations is an interactive training program designed to enhance the ability of field personnel to recognize at-risk behavior in the work place and modify that behavior to avoid injury or incident.

The course consists of 4 sections: Introduction (overview of Body Use and Position, Personal Protective Equipment, Following Procedures, Tools and Equipment; an Awareness of the Working Environment); Incident Investigation (users are shown the aftermath of two incidents, asked to interview a witness and victim, analyze the accident, and give an explanation of the cause); Risk Assessment Exercise (users examine visuals from job sites and identify at-risk behaviors); and Risky Behavior (a game that challenges users to guide a worker through a task without injury or incident).
